Going Home For A Few Days

Alright I know I just got this blog started but I have to go back home to San Antonio for a few days but I promise I'll be back. Please whoever follows this blog or just comes to check it out please stick with me because I'm trying to make this the best blog possible and will once I get back later this month. If anyone would like to get involved with this blog along sid me for instances like this give me a shout on here or my email rodzilla1988@yahoo.com.

Garcia/Gamburyan In The Works For WEC 44

According to Sherdog via MMAMania.com 145 lb gunslinger Leonard Garcia is in the works to go to war with former TUF contestant Manny Gamburyan. Gamburyab has went 1-0 since his drop to 145 while former #1 contender has got back to his winning ways at WEC 42 after being completely destroyed by current 145 kingpin Mike Brown. Personally this really made my day because to really good up & coming fighters are going to go toe to toe with each other until one falls (or Manny takes him down and submits him). Either way I'm excited.

"Lil Nog"/Cane Tapped For UFC 106

According to Loretta Hunt , at Sherdog.com, the LHW version of twin brother “Minotauro” will now face the very interesting prospect that is Luiz Cane. Cane is on a tear finishing 9 of his 10 wins with his only loss being a DQ loss to James Irvin. Also Nog is on a 5 fight win streak coming in to the UFC.

Gouveia/Belcher Slated For UFC 107

According to multiple sources at MMAWeekly.com, Belcher has now been tapped to go against well known underachiever Wilson Gouveia. Belcher is coming off a recent loss to Akiyama in which a lot of people including myself thought he won. Gouveia's last fight in the octagon was the destruction orchestrated by MW contender Nate Marquardt which resulted in a R3 TKO. Normally I would be excited for this type fight but I must admit I am kind of getting tired of seeing Wilson gas midway through R2 in every single damn fight. For that reason alone I will take Belcher by TKO somewhere after Gouveia starts to whither.

Randleman/King Mo Lined Up For Sengoku

According to Sherdog someone close to Randleman's camp has confirmed that it is very likely he will be fighting the up & coming LHW at Sengoku (11th Battle). This here will be a good way to gauge where King Mo really stands and what he needs to improve on but I think I still got Mo by TKO in the 2nd.

Rashad/Rampage Both Talk About This Season of TUF

I can honestly say as of a few months ago I absolutely despised Rashad Evans but now he comes off as a very humble dude who just wants to succeed. I'm not so sure I will be rooting for him but he has caught my attention in a good way.

UFC 104 Machida/Shogun Poster

Is this a nice poster or what? To bad Shogun will not be able to keep his boyish good looks after Oct. 24, lol, I kid I kid.

Cro Cop Is Two Wins Away From A Title Shot? He Thinks So

“The UFC heavyweight division is very hard at the moment. As MMA as a sport is spreading all around the world, new fighters are coming from different kind of sports and training. It’ll be tougher and tougher to take the belt. First, I want to be concentrating on my fight against Junior. If I take both of those fights, I believe the third will be the title shot.”

Apparently the former PRIDE superstar thinks he is quite close to a title shot, in which in all honesty stranger things have happened. To say a Lesnar/Cro Cop fight would be a dream fight is a bit of an understatement but I guess I'll just say it, about 3 to 4 years ago when he still had can we say "The eye of the tiger". Personally I think if you beat Junior and lets say "Big Nog", because that's what I think the UFC will do if he wins, then that might just warrant a title shot. However beating Al Turk, Dos Santos, and just to throw out a name Paul Buentello just doesn't do it for me.

Cole Miller : “Training for Efrain is quite opposite since his best strength is his mentality."

“Training for Efrain is quite opposite since his best strength is his mentality. He's good at winning,” Cole announced. “I'm feeling 100%. Everything is going great in the final preparation for the fight and I’m looking forward to stepping back into the Octagon for the sixth time.”

Cole discusses his upcoming bout with TUF winner Efrain Escudero with MMMunltd.com. I really just love how this guy just hates Junie Browning, I think he is on the same wave length as everyone else in the world. Either way I've already stated my opinion on this fight and am sure it will be a good one.

Michael Bisping VBlog : The Road to Denis Kang

I personally like Bisping and hope he does well in his upcoming fight and his new found humbled nature.

Arlovski : “MMA now is number one priority for me”

“MMA now is number one priority for me." But when asked about his boxing ambitions he replied, "Definitely, I want to try [boxing]." And also stated what he's been working on lately, "I’ve been working on my jiu-jitsu.”

I this interview with Fighters.com he also talks about depression claims. Click here for full interview http://www.fighters.com/09/09/andrei-arlovski-postpones-boxing-debut-to-focus-on-mma-sets-record-straight-on-playing-russian-roulette

Cro Cop is BACK (Hopefully)

Osipczak/Riddle Booked for UFC 105

As my personal favorite from the UK during his stint on TUF, Nick was most well known for at least to as the guy with "No Power" courtesy of opposing coach Dan Henderson. Well he will get his chance to prove his power against former TUF star Matt Riddle who indeed does have KO power in which he gave the most brutal KO in TUF history. I'm really excited for this fight as I think it will be a good one but ever since his stunning KO Riddle has more or less committed to being a LnP tactitioner. Oh well I got Riddle by UD but am hoping for Nick to throw one of his nice head kicks and put Matt down.

Thanks to MMAunltd.com

Escudero : "He's really good on the ground but I feel myself well-rounded right now and this fight can go anywhere"

"I feel comfortable wherever the fight goes. I know he's probably aware that I have really good wrestling so he's probably aware the takedown at anytime, if he decides to strike with me, is at my disposal. And I know as soon as I try to take him down, he's going to go for submissions. He's really good on the ground but I feel myself well-rounded right now and this fight can go anywhere. Both of us are hungry, both of us want to keep moving up the ladder and we're not going to stop."

Efrain Escudero discusses his upcoming battle with fellow 155er Cole Miller at UFC 103. This is one of those fights that I'm so interested in just to see how well Escudero can handle one of the better up and coming 155ers out there because we all no the boy has tremendous skills but seeing where those skills are at is my main focus. While I do hope Escudero pulls it out some how I think Cole's length alone will be to much to handle and will eventually end up catching Efrain in something. Click here for full interview with MMAFanhouse.com http://mma.fanhouse.com/2009/09/10/efrain-escudero-both-of-us-are-hungry-and-were-not-going-to-st/

Teenage Girls Fighting in MMA

I personally think this is great to see for MMA as a whole and for the youth getting involved so young. Was that a nice triangle or what, makes me think of when I tapped Royce Gracie for trying to eat my Oreo's (I'm j/k Royce doesn't even like Oreo's, lol)

Dana White Pokes At Mayweather & What's His Name

Once again Dana White tells us how he really feels about the upcoming Mayweather/Marquez and while I wouldn't call Marquez a nobody, that was pretty damn funny. I do indeed hope UFC 103 smashes their boxing rival but I doubt it will happen especially with no title at stake.

Yamasaki : "My Heart Always Cheers For Brazilians"

"My heart always cheer for the Brazilians, but inside the octagon I’m always the same. I don’t change, I try to be always correct, but in the bottom of the heart I always cheer for the Brazilians."

Long time UFC referee discusses in this recent interview , with Tatame.com, his mentor as a ref along with his opinions on MMA in brazil. Click here for full interview http://www.tatame.com/2009/09/08/Mario-Yamasaki

Marvin Eastman/Ricardo Arona Tapped As Main Event for Bitetti Combat 4

Despite the recent departure of "Lil Nog" Bitetti Cobat has managed to complete their fight card of 10 total fights for Saturday night. This contest will take place at LHW.

Tito Ortiz Wants Anderson Silva

This man really does have the confidence of a flamboyant homosexual who has just finished converting a straight man. This just makes me wonder if he's just trying to make people talk about him again or he actually believes this.

Dan Henderson A Free Agent!!!! UFC Negotiations Slow???

“Shootin down a rumor. Dan Henderson won't fight Antonio Rogerio Nogueira in his next fight. In fact, his next fight might not be in the UFC.”

“According to a source close to Hendo, Dan is a free agent. The source said Dan wants to remain in the
UFC. It makes the most sense.”

But as of right now he doesn't have a contract with Zuffa. Negotiations were characterized as "slow." Dan's main focus is fighting A. Silva.”

“I think something gets done. Maybe not right away, but Hendo needs the
UFC because Silva's there. Plus, it's the only place to make PPV $$$.”

According to Josh Gross , of Sports Illustrated, Dan indeed wants his shot at Anderson Silva AND HE WANTS IT NOW, lol. This is just probably the result of "Hendo" just trying to play hard ball and trying to get a guaranteed title shot in which I feel he should have to fight Nate Marquardt for. I will Update as the news comes out.

Tito Ortiz : Lyoto Machida A Pussy?

In this recent attack against the current UFC LHW Champion , Lyoto Machida, Tito Ortiz unlike his usual self (*sarcasm*) comes off as a complete idiot. I mean correct me if I'm wrong but he's faulting Machida for not getting hit and almost breaking his ribs in the process? Yeah he did say that not to mention he did go on to say that GSP reminds him so much oh himself. Yeah both of you do have brutal GnP , I'll give him that, but everything outside of that is just not accurate.

UFC 106 : Ben Saunders Set To Take On "The Irish Hand Grenade" Marcus Davis

According to MMAmania.com Marcus Davis and Ben Saunders have been booked to clash Nov. 21 at UFC 106 where both fighters will try to rebound from losses in their previous outings. This just adds to the great card that 106 is turning out to be but I think Marcus Davis is just outmatched in this fight and will be bumped even further down the WW ladder. Who isn't excited about the signing of this fight?

Rashad/Rampage Fight Still Happening, Just At A Later Date

“I am going to fight , but not when I’m supposed to. He’s kind of getting sidetracked taking other opportunities above fighting. They haven’t nailed down any dates, but they did say it would happen after the new year. I think they we’re waiting to speak with Quinton’s guys to see when exactly he feels he should be ready. If it couldn’t happen at all, I would definitely want to fight somebody else, but I know the UFC definitely has a lot invested in us fighting each other. It makes no sense for us to fight somebody else because then all that they have created is just a waste.”

Rashad Evans confirms via Bloody Elbow that his upcoming fight with Rampage Jackson has indeed been postponed. However when this highly anticipated bout will take place is still unknown. Personally this just show's me where Quinton's priorities are and how much he wants his title back. I say , nothing personal, screw him if he doesn't want a chance to get the LHW crown back give it to someone who does. Perhaps a Thiago Silva or Randy Couture, I'm just saying.

Franklin : Vitor's Going to Slow Down While I Speed Up

I think Franklin needs to be very aware of what Vitor is doing, at least for the first round and a half. I do however think this is Rich's fight for the taking however he cannot take the same shots as he did against Wanderlei Silva.

Cro Cop : "Definitely The UFC Offered Him The Best Possible Deal"

"I don't know, I like Fedor very much as a fighter, as a man, I don't know him well enough to say anything more, I don't know if somebody controls him. I don't know. I don't know the situation. I don't want to insult Fedor, but I really don't understand his attitude. I don't know why he doesn't want to enter the UFC. Definitely the UFC offered him the best possible deal, to pay him much more than Dream can offer or Strikeforce can offer, but he's just refusing to go there. I don't know why. I think he should take the shot but why, what are his reasons, I don't know. I don't think he's afraid, but I think he wants to keep his perfect (record), maybe he thinks the competition in the UFC is too tough. I don't know. I think he should come. Why he's not there, I don't know."

Just like everyone else in the world "The Croatian Sensation" , Mirko Cro Cop, is now criticizing Fedor's recent deal to bypass the UFC and sign with Strikeforce. While I don't think he is trying to pad his record I do think he is a mear puppet under M-1 Global where his decisions are made for him. For now I have him ranked as the #1 HW in the world but in order to stay on top you need to fight the best in the world and outside of Overeem that is just not the case in Strikeforce.

Non-MMA News : Possibly The Greatest Dunk Ever

I'm a big basketball fan and fan I saw this my jaw just dropped. This has to be in the Top 3 dunks ever done on camera (The Flight Brothers Are Sick).

A Jon Jones/Mat Hamill Matchup In The Works for TUF Finale

According to MMAMadness.com the two upcoming LHW's are preparing to square up against one another in which should really make for an interesting fight considering how much Hamill commits in his take downs to how much Jones makes people pay when they try and take him down. This has a possibility to be a LnP match for Hamill but with his newfound striking confidence I think he'll look to keep it on the feet. Is this finale looking good or what.

"The Dreamcatcher" Out of Super Hulk Tournament

According to MMAWEEKLY Gegard "The Dreamcatcher" Mousasi has withdrawn from DREAM's Super Hulk Tournament in which he was in the Semi Finals. Rumored to be a shoulder injury, one can only think that this may be the outcome of Mousasi's recent sparring session with consensus #1 HW Fedor Emelianenko. Meh, seeing Mousasi fight more often might have been a good thing but were those matches really worth watching? I'm not so sure. Either way I hope he gets better so that he can continue to run through the lackluster LHW div in Strikeforce and continue making his way to the UFC where I feel he could possibly be champ.

"The Hitman" Martin Kampmann Talks Replacement/Game Plan At UFC 103

Dan Miller Injured!!! CB Dollaway/Jay Silva To Fight at UFN19

According to MMAMadness.com CB Dollaway will make his return to the octagon after a devastating submission loss to Tom Lawlor against UFC newcomer Jay Silva. Silva is making his octagon debut with an impressive 5-0 record with all 5 fights not making it to a UD. Should be an entertaining fight to say the leastand hopefully a coming out party for Silva.

Frank Trigg on Fighting A Faster Version of Himself at UFC 103

OK was I the only one that thought that 1st minute was a little awkward? Either way I liked the humbling way he revealed he'd like to fight St. Pierre again. Whether you like him or not the man has poise in front of a camera and def. has a career in television when his MMA days are over.

Lyoto Machida: "I have the personal desire of testing myself against Brock Lesnar"

"I have the personal desire of testing myself against Brock Lesnar, who is haunting. He's a monster of strength, but is technical, too. My tactic would be to keep him at distance, not to let him get a hold on me. Otherwise, the punishment would be enormous."
Lyoto Machida once again discusses his dream of a superfight with current UFC HW Champ Brock Lesnar, in which would be one of the greatest size dissadvantages in history. Although he has high dreams of what could be, at least he is being realistic of what the outcome could be if ends up underneath the bohemeth we know as the champ. Let's not forget the very real challenge right in front of him that is Shogun Rua and the whole lot of potential match ups that are still out there for him at LHW. But maybe just maybe if he get's through that minefield we call the UFC LHW div. we all could all see possibly one of the greatest match ups ever.

“Dos Santos is a knockout artist” Says Coach

“He’s a very talented guy, everybody is very impressed with him. He is, for sure, one of the best boxing fighters in the world. He’s very strong and fast for this division, seeks the knockout all the time… He’s a knockout artist. Mirko is a great athlete, deserves all the respect, but that’s why we’re going inside him. Cigano has everything to win and we’re confident on that.”
In an interview with Tatame.com, Cigano's coach discusses where he thinks this fight at UFC 103 will take place and how he see's him winning. Personally I more excited about this fight than any other on the card just because of the hope that "PRIDE" Mirko Crocop might have a triumphant return. Either way there is pretty much a guarenteed KO so everyone is in for a treat.

Belfort : Franklin Fight A Blessing

Interview with Bellator FC CEO

With their upcoming 2010 season just around the corner its hard to think just how successful they plan on being without live shows. Having results pop up over the net before the show even has a chance to air cannot be good for ratings.

Jamie Varner's Not Giving Up The Belt That Easy

Gegard Mousasi : "I Think the Steroids Have Gone to His Head" on Paulo Filho

“What happened when [Filho] came to America, he got beat up really bad. Now he’s back in Japan and he feels like a kid in a candy story. He can use all kinds of steroids and I think the steroids have gone to his head. He didn’t perform the same as he does in Japan as he does in America and now he suddenly has a big mouth again. I would say that he’s a little donkey on steroids. He thinks he’s a running horse but he’s more like a little pony. I really believe that he used steroids. He also backed out a couple of times when he had to fight Chael Sonnen. He said he was crazy. Maybe he is crazy, I don’t know. I think he wasn’t feeling very good mentally because he cannot use his magic stuff. I also fight in Japan and I don’t use anything. If there’s an athletic commission test, he can fight me everywhere, everywhere he wants.”

The current Strikeforce LHW Champion responds to Filho's claim to being him up for free. Well with the current Co-Promotions going on this is def. a fight that we could see in the near future , but does anyone really want to? Who am I kidding I'd love to see Paulo get smashed just for those ugly tattoos.

Shogun Rua on his upcoming fight with "The Dragon" Lyoto Machida

How anyone is not excited for this fight I have no idea.

Thanks to Sherdog.com

Mike Swick on Pulling Out of UFC 103

“I am very sorry to the fans who were looking forward to this fight. I was very excited to come back home to Texas and fight in front my family, friends and fans. I am also sorry to the UFC, they have spent a lot of time promoting this fight. I am in great shape and will continue to train hoping to get an opportunity to fight again soon. I will post any updates on my Twitter page at Twitter.com/officialswick. I want to thank all the fans for their support. The emails and Tweets have been great and has made this unfortunate incident much easier to deal with."

Mike Swick posts via his twitter page how disappointing it is to pull out of his fight with "The Hitman" at UFC 103. Heres to the TUF1 start getting back in the soon to mix it up with the elite of the 170 lb div.

Bisping : Trying to get back to his winning ways

Michael Bisping will try and erase the memory of his devastating KO loss to Dan Henderson in his upcoming fight with Denis Kang at UFC 105.

Arona on Machida "He’s a great champion, but if I’m well trained I can beat anyone.”

“He’s a guy who’s well prepared, defended Brazil well, a Karate guy, a fight that I respect a lot, but I always had a chance to beat anyone I fought, I made tough battles and did well. I don’t have any doubt of my performance when I’m well trained, but MMA is always a surprise, it just ends when the referee stops it. I wanna be well prepared to, when I get there and had to fight Lyoto, I’d go to win. He’s a great champion, but if I’m well trained I can beat anyone.”

Ricardo Arona recently talks to Tatame.com about his desires to fight "The Dragon" and what he thinks the outcome will be. I like Arona as much as the next guy but I'd string together a few W's before setting my sights on the UFC LHW Champion. Nice to have dreams though, but here's to seeing Arona in the UFC before long.

Minotauro: “The cowboys helped me”

“Man, the cowboys helped me... They made me pissed and focused (with the boos). I saw that it’d special to win him in his home. When I entered there and they booed me, it didn’t surprised me at all. I knew it would be like that”, remembers Rodrigo, who was aplaused by the fans after the post fight interview, inside the octagon. “I got the microphone and said that it was an honor to fight Randy Couture, that he always was one of my idols. They liked my performance and I thanked Couture, who’s an idol here in the US.”
Big Nog talks to Tatame.com about how the boos from the crowd in Portland, Oregon propelled him to the epic performance he displayed at UFC 102. In what will go down in my eyes as one of the greatest fights ever Nog was able to pull out a Unanimous Decision over UFC Hall of Famer Randy Couture scoring knockdown after knockdown and a nearly locked in D'Arce choke.

“If I was making excuses, I would have been making excuses right after the fight. I’m not making excuses, I’m giving you a reason…. If Mir feels it’s an excuse, then lets get in the Octagon and see whether it’s an excuse or a reason in December and settle it. I’d love to fight Frank Mir at UFC 107.”
Big Nog is responding to the recent comments made by fellow HW Frank Mir in regards to people downplaying his win over the Brazilian as a mire fluke due to injury.Mir/Kongo is originally slated for UFC 107 but the former PRIDE and UFC HW Champion makes it clear what he wants his next fight to be in his talks with MMAWeekly.com and I'm not so sure I disagree. Big Nog is coming off an exhillerating 3 round war with UFC legend Randy Couture in which he pulled it out with a unanimous decision showing some surprising snap and power behind his punches. A rematch though for those two is something I personally want to see but does Mr. White?

Brett Rogers Plans for Cage Ex. To Be A Factor

“In the cage it’s a different environment. The angles in a cage are a lot different than in a boxing ring and there’s no give against that fence, so I’m definitely going to use the cage as an advantage … he’s really good at recovering. He knows to duck his head and clinch on to the body, and just kind of wait it out until he can really wake up. That’s good for him, but I’m not the type of person to give him an inch. As soon as I see him hurt, I’m on him. I’m on him. I’m gonna finish the fight. I don’t like to play around too much in the cage because anything can happen at any time, so I take them out as soon as possible…. I definitely have a huge advantage when it comes down to exchanging punches. That’s my strong point, and that’s definitely going to be his weak point. I want to keep moving, keep him back pedaling, and just keep him off balance. That’s my main goal in this fight. I really don’t see him wanting to stand and bang with me. He’s gonna taste my power, and then he’s going to try to take me down to hopefully get me with some ground and pound or just whatever. Hopefully he’s not sleeping on the fact that I do have wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu training too. I guarantee you I’m going to be prepared for whatever…. Fedor’s just another man to me. It’s nice to say that I’m fighting the guy most people consider to be the number one fighter in the world but on the other side of that coin he’s just a man. He’s just a man that’s in my way. A lot of people see Fedor as this unbeatable, mythical creature, but if I put one on his chin, Fedor is going to sleep. Right now I’m in training and I’m just visualizing knocking him out every day. I can see that he’s been rocked several times before, so I’m going in there for the kill. I can’t not picture me knocking him out. So he better do some chin-ups or whatever he needs to do to make him strong, because I’m coming for him. He’s not going to be able to handle my power standing and banging. He stands in the pocket with me, he’s gonna get knocked out. He better keep on his toes and move around.”

FiveOuncesofPain.com recently discussed with Strikeforce contender , Brett Rogers, what he though his keys to victory would be in his upcoming bout with the consensus #1 HW in the world. While cannot hate on confidence in yourself I think he makes valid points in which I believe it is possible that Fedor might have some problems with the transition to the cage. Let's just hope "The Last Emperor" does not make the same mistake a former PRIDE standout , Mirko Crocop, did and not train with an official sized cage.

Anderson Silva Out until 2010!!!

While all of the details of Silva's injuries are not known at this time, the official news was broke from the guys at MMALive through their official twiiter page. It is an elbow injury that will be keeping the "Spider" sidelined (Punching people will do that to you) and will be undergoing surgery shortly. The good thing about this scenario is that we can finally have a clear cut #1 contender in the division even if Dana has to throw out the old "Interim Title" to appeal the strongheaded Dan Henderson into a fight with Nate Marquardt. There's been no comment from anyone at Zuffa thus far but as soon as there is I'll let you know.

With Mike Swick hurt, Daley/Kampmann booked for 103

Mike Swick has been forced to withdraw from his upcoming match with the "Hitman" at UFC 103 due to a training inflicted concussion. This is a big setback for the TUF1 star as with a win would have been a guaranteed title shot. Although nothing can be said yet about who "Quick" might fight next Paul Daley has stepped up in his place to fight the 185 drop down Martin Kampmann although a win would not mean a title shot for Daley, or Kampmann at this point in time. I will keep you updated but in the meantime place your vote in the Mike Swick's next fight poll.
